All about the Southeast
The Southeast region of the United States includes twelve states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. These states have many things in common such as their geographic location. The Southeast region is located in the southern part of the United States. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on its eastern side and the Gulf of Mexico on its southern side. The largest city in this region is Jacksonville, Florida. Other large cities in this region are: Charlotte, Memphis, Washington D.C., and Nashville.
Climate
The climate of the Southeast region is subtropical. They have mostly mild winters and hot, humid summers where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This region have fairly evenly distributed rainfall with a slight increase during the fall and winter months.
Famous Natural Features
The Southeast region contains the oldest mountain range in the United States - The Appalachian Mountains. They begin in Georgia and stretch all the way up through Maine. The Southeast is also home to the Atlantic Coastal Plains - a stretch of flat land that is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and passes through six states in the Southeast region.

Tuskegee Airmen Historic Site
The Tuskegee Airmen Historic Site is part of the National Park Service. It is located in Tuskegee, Alabama. The Tuskegee Airmen Historic Site is where the Army Air Corps began training the first African American pilots to be in the U.S. military during World War II.
World of Coca-Cola
The World of Coke is located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The World of Coca-Cola includes several different exhibits that feature the history of this famous beverage, the historic commercials, and its influence on popular culture. The World of Coca-Cola also hosts a variety of other exhibits.
Kennedy Space Center
The Kennedy Space Center is the United States launch site that is located on Merritt Island, Florida. The Kennedy Space Center has been the site for every NASA launch since 1972.
