All About the Northeast
The Northeast region of the United States includes eleven states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusettes, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. These states have many things in common such as their geographic location. The Northeast region is located in the northern part of the United States that borders the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the states even have borders along the country of Canada. The largest city in this region is the city of New York, New York. Other large cities in this region include: Philadelphia, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Providence.
Climate
The climate of the Northeast United States is a humid continental climate. These states have four distinct seasons with warm to hot summers and cool to cold winters that often include snowfall.
Famous Natural Features
One of the most well-known natural features of the Northeast region is the Appalachian Mountains, a chain of mountains that begin in Georgia and run all the way up through Maine. The Northeast region also contains the Catskill Mountains that are located in the southern portion of the state of New York. Two of the largest lakes in the United States are also located in the Northeast: Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is a huge copper sculpture of a woman holding up a torch. It is located on Liberty Island, New York. The statue was given to the United States as a present from the country of France in 1885. The official name of the sculpture is "Liberty Enlightening the World."
Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell is a huge bronze bell that is located at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bell was made in 1752. It represents the freedom that the United States gained from England. The bell has a famous crack in it as well. The first time the bell was rung was when it cracked. It was then remade twice afterwards. It was rung at the reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is a 103-story building that is located in Manhattan, New York City, New York. It stands a total of 1,454 feet tall. The building was completed in 1931 and was the tallest building in the world for 40 years. It is now the fourth-tallest building in the United States and the 23rd tallest building in the world. The Empire State Building has one of the most popular outdoor observatories in the entire world. It has attracted millions of visitors over the years.
